Leaders of animal protein chains discuss perspectives for the sector
The leaders of the poultry, swine, beef, egg, milk and farmed fish sectors will debate the direction of animal protein production and trade in the coming years in a panel that will take place during the International Poultry and Pig Farming Exhibition (SIAVS), the largest sector event in the country, which will be held between August 9 and 11, at Anhembi Parque, in São Paulo (SP).
The panel will take place on the last day of the event (Thursday) within the scope of SIAVS Multiproteínas and will feature a presentation by the global animal protein strategist at Rabobank, Justin Sherrard.
The representative of the world’s largest agribusiness bank will talk about the global perspectives of protein production and trade within the new global context, with the expected overcoming of the pandemic, conflicts between nations, protectionism, inflation, production costs and other points.
The presentation will be followed by analyzes by the presidents of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), Ricardo Santin, of the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (ABIEC), Antônio Jorge Camardelli, of the Brazilian Fish Farming Association (Peixe BR), Francisco Medeiros, and the executive director of the Brazilian Dairy Association (Viva Lácteos), Gustavo Beduschi.
“We will have different chains in a debate that will address issues such as global demand for protein, sensitive markets, the resurgence of protectionism, the effects of health crises and how each sector sees its own participation as a global player. This year we saw several new challenges arise for food exporters. The debate will make this reflection and discuss ways to maintain sustainable food security”, analyzes the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.

ABOUT SIAVS – Held by ABPA, the main meeting of poultry and swine farming in Brazil will be even bigger than its previous edition, held in 2019. Its commercial area was expanded by 20%, adding new annexes to the space traditionally occupied by the fair. The commercialization of spaces has practically ended.
In addition to business opportunities, SIAVS will host the largest technical conference in the sector, with an intense program and more than 100 speakers from Brazil and other countries. The political weight of the event is another differential. Authorities from the national and state executive and legislative powers are expected, expanding the event’s role as the main point of debate on the directions of the sectors.
In 2019, the event received more than 20 thousand visitors from 50 countries, with more than 170 exhibitors. In the dozens of conference rooms, presentations by more than 100 speakers from Brazil and other countries took place for 2,400 delegates.
